Product detailed description
January 25, 1931: the expedition team arrives at a campsite in Antarctica... where they find the local crew of men and sled dogs dead. The bodies are strewn all over the place, some mutilated, others dismembered in a strange and cold-blooded manner. Several people are missing. But an even more horrifying sight is the star-shaped pile of snow nearby. For beneath its five points is a grave - and what lies there is not human! The novel In the Mountains of Madness is a journey into the heart of Lovecraft's myth - into the deep caves and even deeper chasms of time on an inhospitable continent where the secret history of our planet is preserved. Since its first publication in the now iconic pulp-era magazine Astounding Stories, this story has influenced the development of horror and science fiction around the world. Japanese writer and cartoonist Go Tanabe has adapted it faithfully and with great respect for the source material into the manga form, the first half of which is found in this book, which is more reminiscent of Western comics in its artwork and overall style, and can therefore also serve well as a "gateway" for those who are new to Japanese comics.
