Smíšený les: Dartmoor brings the familiar gameplay mechanics to a new landscape full of heathland, wetlands and rocky valleys. You’ll carefully plan the placement of plants, animals and terrain, make use of their interdependencies and seek out the most advantageous combinations to transform your landscape into a harmonious and high-scoring whole.
Smíšený les: Dartmoor is designed for anyone who enjoys well-thought-out card games featuring clever combinations of effects and a nature-themed setting. Players who enjoy discovering new synergies between cards and gradually building their own strategy will get the most out of it. The game is for 2–5 players, the recommended age is 10 years and over, and you should allow approximately 60 minutes per game. Although it is based on the acclaimed Forest Shuffle series, this is a standalone game suitable for both seasoned fans and players who are just getting to know the series. Thanks to the clear rules, you’ll be up and playing in no time, whilst the variety of cards ensures high replayability. Furthermore, the standalone rules introduce several new elements that distinguish Dartmoor from the original Mixed Forest.
Smíšený les: Dartmoor transports you to the protected countryside of south-west England, where vast moors, wetlands and stony plains stretch out before you. Your aim will be to create the most favourable environment possible for the local flora and fauna. Every animal or plant has its own specific requirements. Some species prefer the company of other creatures, whilst others need a particular type of environment or, conversely, plenty of space around them. Finding the right combinations is the foundation of the entire game, and every new card played can open up further interesting scoring opportunities.
Compared to the original Forest Shuffle, Dartmoor introduces several new features. Heathland terrain plays a significant role here, expanding the options for placing cards and creating entirely new strategic situations. Furthermore, at the start of the game, each player chooses their own cave with a unique effect that will influence the course of the entire game. The deck also contains winter cards that gradually count down to the end of the game, so you need to time your moves and the use of individual cards’ powerful effects correctly.
The gameplay remains pleasantly simple. On your turn, you either draw two cards or play one onto your landscape. However, behind these seemingly straightforward rules lies a wealth of decisions. You’ll have to consider which cards to sacrifice in order to play others, when to use immediate effects, and when to set the stage for powerful scoring combinations at the end of the game. Each game unfolds differently depending on the available cards, so no two games play out in exactly the same way.
- This standalone game utilises the tried-and-tested principles of the Forest Shuffle series, whilst also introducing plenty of new ideas, offering a fresh experience even for experienced players.
- New terrain types in the form of heathlands fundamentally alter planning options and open up further ways to create scoring combinations between cards.
- Caves with different starting abilities give each game a unique beginning and encourage players to explore different strategies right from the very first move.
- The richly illustrated cards depict real plants and animals from the Dartmoor area, so the game will delight not only players but also nature lovers.
- Thanks to the large number of cards, new combinations arise in every game, motivating you to try ever-changing approaches.
- You’ll learn the rules in no time, but mastering all the possibilities and the interplay between the cards will keep even experienced players entertained.
- Games move at a brisk pace, as each turn involves a simple choice that can nevertheless significantly influence the outcome of the entire game.
- The new moorland setting brings a distinct atmosphere and new game mechanics, whilst retaining what made the Mixed Forest series so popular.
- It works brilliantly with any number of players, so you’ll enjoy it just as much with two players as with a full party of five.
- If you’re looking for a clever card game that rewards thoughtful planning and offers high replay value, you won’t get bored of Dartmoor any time soon.

Smíšený les: Dartmoor is a standalone game and cannot be combined with the original Forest Shuffle or its expansions. However, if you wish to expand your games further, you can opt for the localised expansion Smíšený les: Dartmoor – Exmoor, which is designed exclusively for this game. It adds 55 new cards, new species of plants and animals, additional heathlands and new caves, and expands the possibilities for working with cards in the clearing and building scoring combinations.
Smíšený les: Dartmoor was released as the second standalone game in the Forest Shuffle series. Its original publisher is Lookout Games, which built on the success of the award-winning Forest Shuffle and expanded the series to include the entirely new setting of the English national park, Dartmoor.
The game was designed by the German game designer Kosch, who is also behind the original Forest Shuffle. The illustrations were created by the Spanish illustrators Toni Llobet and Judit Piella, whose realistic depictions of plants and animals are one of the distinctive features of the entire series. The graphic design was created by Klemens Franz and atelier198.
